Here’s Who’s Hosting Netflix’s All Queer The Ultimatum Spin-Off
With an all-new twist on its Ultimatum format, Netflix is also bringing in an all-new host.
Netflix’s The Ultimatum: Queer Love, which follows the format of the hit reality show The Ultimatum, will follow five couples consisting of queer women and and nonbinary people. The season has already been filmed.
The official description of the format says that “one partner is ready for marriage, the other may have doubts. An ultimatum is issued. And in just over eight weeks, each couple will either get married, or get out, after they each choose new potential partners in a life-changing opportunity to get a glimpse of two different futures.”
Now, we’ll see it all go down with queer relationships.
However, while the first and upcoming second seasons were hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey (who also host Netflix’s Love is Blind), The Ultimatum: Queer Love will have an all-new host: JoAnna Garcia Swisher.
“She’s in the Netflix family and I think she did a great job,” show creator Chris Coelen told Variety. “She was really passionate about doing it.”
Garcia Swisher is currently starring in Netflix’s show Sweet Magnolias, but rose to fame playing Reba’s daughter Cheyenne in the show Reba.
Originally, the all-LGBTQ+ Queer Love season was originally slated to be the second season of The Ultimatum, but has now been changed into its own spin-off.
“We, along with Netflix, sort of made a decision to create a new franchise where there’s Ultimatum: Marry or Move On and there’s Ultimatum: Queer Love, and felt like it made sense to differentiate the two,” Coelen said. “There are slight nuances to each of the shows. The shows are very similar in their DNA, but you know, having a different host or for the different versions made sense to us as we talked about going into it.”
No release date for The Ultimatum: Queer Love has been announced.
