Pete Buttigieg dodges question from Anderson Cooper about future presidential run

In an interview with Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, out CNN correspondent Anderson Cooper asked the former Democratic presidential candidate if he’d consider running again should President Biden decide not to seek a second term.
As Cooper expected, Buttigieg, the only out candidate to win a state-level presidential primary election, didn’t give a yes or no answer.
“Where my head is at is how do we spend the better part of a trillion dollars in infrastructure funding accountable, on time, on task, and on budget. It literally doesn’t leave any room for me to be thinking about politics.”
“I kind of thought that was the answer,” Cooper quipped in response.
Before that, Cooper told Buttigieg that many are saying his role in the Biden Administration could be good for him politically, as it requires him to travel around the country and fund public works projects – which everyone appreciates – as well as constantly build relationships with mayors and local officials.
“Like every job, there’s a flashy side and then there’s a work horse side,” Buttigieg said, explaining that for every hour he spends flashing big checks and making big announcements, he also spends an hour working on the nitty gritty, like safety regulations.
“Like any other job, you will succeed if you keep your head down and do what needs to be done, but I’ll tell you, I love this job. There’s nothing I’d rather be doing in public service right now.”
